Terms and privacy
QuantTrail, the Local AI Model Finder by NorthPanda Labs, suggests AI models that can run on your own computer or phone. This page says what we keep, why, where it is processed and how to remove it. It is written to be read in a few minutes.
In short
- You can use the finder without an account. The hardware you enter is used to answer you and is not saved.
- With an account we keep your email address, your votes (with the hardware class only) and, only if you choose to save one, a computer's hardware details so we can tell you about better models.
- We do not sell data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
- Recommendations, memory and speed are estimates. Check a model's license before you use it.
What we keep
| What | When | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hardware you type or detect in the finder | Every search | To work out which models fit | Not stored. Your browser keeps your last search in this tab only (session storage) so a model page can use it. |
| Account: email address, password, confirmation status, optional display name | When you create an account | To sign you in and let you vote and save computers | Until you ask us to delete the account. Passwords are stored hashed by our account provider and are never visible to us. |
| Votes: the model, the hardware class you chose (for example "Mid"), good or not good, and when | When you vote | To show which models people find good on each class of hardware and to improve the ranking | Until the account is deleted. Others see only totals per class, never who voted. |
| Saved computers: the name you give it and the hardware fields you entered (for example platform, RAM, graphics card and its memory, CPU cores), the use and context length, the preferences you set for it (what to favour, slowest speed, formats), and the models we found best and largest for it | Only when you press "Save this computer" and agree | To re-check it daily and tell you when a better model fits | Until you remove it (on the Computers page) or delete the account. |
| Phone and board survey: the device name as an app sent it, its RAM and its class | Only for apps using the API that send a phone or board model, unless the app opts out (store_device: false); at most three per session | To learn which devices people use and add them to the device list | Reviewed by the operator; no address or account is attached. |
| Usage counts: requests per route per hour, errors and response time | Every request | To keep the service running and plan capacity | Counts only: no address, hardware or request content. |
| Rate limiting: a one-way hash of your network address | Searches through the API | To stop abuse | Cleared after a short period without requests. The address itself is not stored. |
| Families you follow on the Releases page, and when you last looked | Only when you press Follow | To show you the models new in those families | Until you stop following or delete the account. |
| API keys you make, and your account level | When you create a key on the API page | To let your own apps use the API within your level's limits | A one-way hash of the key (the key itself is shown once and not kept), its name, the model families it is opened to and request counts per day and week. Until you revoke it or the account is deleted. |
| Your email address in our account list | When you open your account page | So the operator can find your account to set its level | Until the account is deleted. |
Who processes it
- Cloudflare runs the website and API and delivers every request. Its own logs follow Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Supabase hosts the database and the accounts, in the United States.
- Email for sign-up and password reset is sent through Supabase and, once set up, an email delivery provider.
- Have I Been Pwned checks a new password against known data breaches when you create an account or change your password. Only the first 5 characters of a one-way hash of the password are sent; the password itself never leaves your browser except to our account provider.
- Hugging Face and Ollama are where model information comes from and where downloads go. Download links take you to their sites; we send them nothing about you.
Your choices
- Use the finder without an account: nothing about you is kept.
- Change a vote 48 hours after you cast it, or leave it.
- Remove a saved computer at any time on the Computers page.
- Ask for a copy of your data or for your account to be deleted: use the contact address shown here once it is published, or the account email you signed up with. We answer within 30 days.
Signing in keeps a session token in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
Terms of use
- Estimates, not guarantees. Fit, memory, speed and "smartness" are calculated estimates. Real results depend on your drivers, settings and the exact file you download.
- Model licenses are the makers'. QuantTrail links to models; it does not host or license them. Read each model's license (some do not allow commercial use, some require accepting terms first).
- Fair use of the API. Do not overload the service, get around its limits or scrape it in bulk. Requests may be slowed or refused. Application keys are personal to the application they were issued for; do not share them or put them in public code.
- Levels and keys. A level sets how many API keys, weekly requests and model families your keys may use; the current numbers are on the Levels page of your account. They may change with notice on this page. Paid levels are not on sale yet.
- Accounts. Use a real email address you control and keep your password to yourself. One vote per account per model; accounts made to manipulate votes may have their votes hidden or be closed.
- Changes. The service is an early version and may change or pause. When this page changes, the version and date at the top change; continued use means you accept the new version.
- No warranty. The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, NorthPanda Labs is not liable for losses from using it or the models it suggests.
